Corporate responsibility starts from within. At Arcadia Settlements Group, we believe it is our responsibility to make a positive impact on the lives of each person we encounter.
Gateway Domestic Violence Services
According to domesticviolencestatistics.org:
- Every 12 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten
- Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alone, the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs
Domestic violence crosses all demographics and walks of life. For this reason, we devote not only our resources but also our time in supporting the efforts of Gateway Domestic Violence Services.
The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD)
The American Association of People with Disabilities is a convener, connector, and catalyst for change, increasing the political and economic power of people with disabilities.
Kids’ Chance of California and Kids’ Chance of Arizona
As part of our mission to provide positive, long-lasting financial security for people impacted by injury, we’re a proud sponsor of Kids’ Chance of California (KCOCA) and Kids’ Chance of Arizona, non-profit organizations that provide need-based educational scholarships to the children of California and Arizona workers who have been fatally or seriously injured on the job. Every year, thousands of California and Arizona workers are seriously injured at work and hundreds more are killed. These events can devastate families, especially children. Part of the fallout can include a significant reduction in income that makes savings for college education or vocational school seem out of reach.
Originally founded in 1988 in the state of Georgia, Kids’ Chance has expanded to 39 states over last 29 years and has awarded more than 2,000 scholarships totaling more than $5 million in educational assistance. The impact of these scholarships is perhaps best relayed by KCOCA scholarship recipients themselves. Their stories can be found here and here.
Nationwide Children’s Hospital
Arcadia has been one of many proud sponsors of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital PGA Championship since 2015. We have once again committed as a Claims Community Partner for the 2021 tournament taking place (in-person if all goes well) August 23-29, 2021 at The Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course benefiting Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees Campaign
Arcadia’s mission is to improve the lives of people made vulnerable by physical injury. It’s an important mission. Inevitably, it also requires significant travel, as our employees support claim resolutions across the country.
Through the planting of trees in sensitive areas in the U.S. and around the world, Arcadia can sequester more carbon every year than we produce in the performance of our company’s mission. Reforestation fights climate change, creates cleaner air and water and supports species diversity. It also has important public health benefits, especially for people with physical limitations. Research has revealed many health benefits attributed to urban trees, including reductions in asthma, heart disease, obesity and depression.
For this reason, our company has chosen to institute a workplace giving initiative during open enrollment benefitting the Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees Campaign. Launched in 2008 to restore Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, the campaign has since expanded to include forest projects throughout the United States and China. By planting trees and helping forests regrow where they have been severely degraded, we can help to ensure clean water, air, diverse species and full, healthy forests for future generations. A short video detailing the campaign can be viewed here.
Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s COVID-19 Heroes Fund
In response to COVID-19, Tunnel to Towers established the COVID-19 Heroes Fund to support frontline health care workers, providing meals, personal protective equipment (PPE) and, should tragedy strike, financial relief through temporary mortgage payments on homes of health care workers who lose their lives and leave behind young children.
Tunnel to Towers has been supporting first responder heroes on the front lines since 9/11 – from firefighters, law enforcement officers and military to health care workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Veterans Martial Arts Training
We are also annual charity partners with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. In 2017 we joined them in supporting Veterans Martial Arts Training (V-MAT), a New England-based organization that helps rehabilitate U.S. service veterans recovering from physical and psychological injuries.
We also strongly support and participate in multiple charity runs across the Denver Metro Area.
Active Memberships
All of our Arcadia Consultants, as well as our leaders, serve as active members of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA).
